Tabkeep or tabExtend? Both put your tabs on the new tab. Tabkeep lets you keep more for less.

tabExtend and Tabkeep both turn the new tab into a board of saved tabs, notes and to-dos. Tabkeep's Pro costs less, and it manages the tabs you have open, not just the ones you saved.

We make Tabkeep. Everything about tabExtend here comes from tabExtend's own pages, we say where tabExtend is ahead, and planned Tabkeep features don't count.

The short answer

Choose Tabkeep to keep more, pay less and tidy open tabs

Pro is $6 a month instead of $8, and a live sidebar shows every open tab with duplicates marked. Alt+A finds any tab, and Ask can group your tabs for you.

Choose tabExtend if you need your board on your phone

tabExtend has iPhone, iPad and Android apps, shared workspaces and a Team plan, and it can save text snippets from any page.

A free plan you can actually use, and Pro for less

tabExtend's free plan stops at 30 saves. Tabkeep's Free plan holds 25 items across two spaces on this device and has no time limit; Pro removes the limits and adds sync for less than tabExtend's paid plan.

When you want more, Tabkeep Pro is $6 a month or $55 a year, against $8 a month for tabExtend Pro. While a lifetime offer is on, you can also pay once and keep Pro for life.

It manages the tabs you have open, too

tabExtend is built around the tabs you save. Tabkeep's sidebar also shows every tab you have open right now, marks duplicates and sleeping tabs, closes duplicates in one step, and can put inactive tabs to sleep. Drag any open tab onto a group to save it, and it closes in your browser.

Press Alt+A on any page to find a tab by typing a few letters, whether it is open, saved or just closed.

More ways to shape a project

Collections hold spaces, and spaces hold groups. Inside a group, saved tabs sit beside rich-text notes, checklists, images and stopwatch timers, and clusters fold related tabs into one line. When a project needs a free-form layout, an easel gives you a canvas of link cards.

If sorting is the chore, ask Tabkeep in plain words and it groups your tabs for you. Nothing changes until you say yes.

Bring your tabs from anywhere

Tabkeep imports your browser bookmarks and the links in any HTML, CSV, JSON or text export, including files from OneTab, Toby and Raindrop.io. You can take everything back out as a full backup file, HTML bookmarks or CSV.

Where tabExtend still fits

tabExtend has phone and tablet apps, so your board comes with you. It also lets you share workspaces, offers a Team plan, and can save text snippets and show your notes on any site. Tabkeep is a personal tool for desktop browsers today.
